WHO I WORK WITH

  • I work individually with elementary school aged children between the ages of 6-12.

  • I work with junior high and high school students between the ages of 12-17.

  • I work with young adults between the ages of 18-25.

  • When appropriate, I engage with caregivers to provide psychoeducation and consultation. When working with children under the age of 13, there is a heavier emphasis on caregiver involvement.

What I Specialize in

OCD

Obsessive compulsive disorder is one of my main areas of specialization. We know that talk therapy does not help with OCD - actually, it can make it worse! I engage in ERP’s for all forms of OCD (i.e., relationship, contamination, existential, magical thinking).

Neruodivergence

Neurodiversity is a word that embraces all neurological uniqueness! I predominately work with ADHD, autism, and OCD. I aim for equality, respect, and full societal inclusion.

Anxiety

I work with generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, social anxiety, test anxiety, performance anxiety, perfectionism, medical anxiety, school avoidance … all fear, doubt, and worry are welcome!

Depression

I often work with youth who may experience low mood, may self-harm, or struggle with suicidal thoughts. Sometimes this may come across as irritability, agitation, anger, or risk-taking behaviors. Caregivers may need extra support in helping their child find their path.

Identity Exploration

I am affirming of all 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC children, youth, and young adults. Navigating intersecting identities can be extremely complex and we must consider how privilege, power, and systemic oppression impacts an individual’s ability to live their truth. I am also part of the Trans Affirming Network!

Co-occuring concerns

Given my areas of specialization, I also work with multiple intersecting and co-occurring concerns. Often there are nuanced overlaps impacting young people. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding yourself or your child!

What I do in therapy

  • Exposure with response prevention is the gold standard for ERP work. If you have been diagnosed with OCD or are wondering if you have it, we will complete the CY-BOCS to guide exposure work in fun and creative ways. Caregivers often need coaching to help their child with ERPs as it is often counterintuitive. It may even feel intrusive or uncomfortable for caregivers as well. We will always work as a team to set up the most effective ERP to meet your goals.

  • I predominately work from an acceptance and commitment therapy framework. DNA-v was specifically created to help engage youth in the therapeutic process. The aim is to increase willingness, curiosity, and acceptance to help young people live their valued life!

  • An extension of ACT is Superhero Therapy. We will engage in talking about your favorite characters from comics, graphic novels, video games, movies, anime etc. to start overcoming anxiety and trauma. This is an incredibly effective intervention for children, youth, and adults alike!

  • There are times that children or youth are reluctant to attend therapy. When there is a struggle to engage, I often turn to caregiver focused therapy to help them adjust their own behavior and feel more confident in how to respond to their child’s needs.

  • I always work from a trauma informed lens. I aim to help my clients find co-regulation, connection, and safety. Polyvagal theory helps inform the work we will do together as we map your nervous system through art, movement, music, and play.

  • All of my work is grounded in multicultural and social justice theory. I look to see how my own intersectionality and positionality impact the work I engage in. I also always consider the systemic injustice that may be impacting my client’s experiences and find ways to advocate for systemic change.
